Private Scuba Charter in Kauai

Make it your own show! Private charters are great to book if you want the boat all to yourself!

Your private charter includes 2 dives at 2 different sites with a dedicated guide. Unless you choose to upgrade your charter to Niʻihau or Mana Crack/Nā Pali Coast, we will be doing a local boat dive—meaning we generally don’t venture more than ten miles from our harbor. Our guides are extremely knowledgeable of the dive sites and marine life. On our website, you can read through a description of all the dive sites and request sites that look interesting to you!

Schedule & Departure Info

• Local Charter Hours: We meet at 7:00 AM and generally get back to the dock around 12:00 PM (noon).

• Upgraded Charter Hours: If you book Mana Crack or Niʻihau, the charter runs from 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM.

• Location: You will need to provide transportation to Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor.

• Parking: Paid parking is available at the harbor (Kamaʻāina park free with valid HI state ID). Please allow a few extra minutes to handle parking payment upon arrival.

• How to Find Us: Our boat is the only one with scuba tanks! Come find us right at the dock and ask for Explore Kauaʻi Scuba!

Gear Rental & Easy Fitting

• Free Gear Rental: All gear rental is free with a booking! Included: BCD, regulator, wetsuit, tanks, weights, fins, mask, snorkel, and dive computer.

• Harbor Fitting: You give us your height, weight, and shoe size, and we give you different gear to try on at the harbor—this way we don’t have to meet at two different locations.

• Gear Rinse: If you bring your own gear, we set up a tub of water to rinse off the salt when we get back to the dock!

Onboard Amenities

• Enclosed Cabin: Offers shade from the sun and protection from wind spray!

• Bathroom (Head): Not to worry, yes, we have a small bathroom that you can use during the tour!

• Hydration: Stay hydrated with complementary water and juice.

• Snacks: Fresh fruit, cheese, hummus, and guacamole is always provided after dives, along with tortilla chips for dipping. Cookies and Cheez-Its are available too!

• Lunch: On tours lasting longer than 5 hours we provide sandwiches. We accommodate vegans, vegetarians, gluten-free diets, and allergies in general—include dietary restrictions below if you have any!

• Extras: Mask defog provided onboard, plus rain jackets available if it’s raining or if we get wind spray on the crossing home from Niʻihau!

Frequently Asked Questions

• Can non-certified divers try diving? Yes! We can accommodate non-certified divers who want to try scuba diving (Discover Scuba Diving) as long as your group has 4 or fewer people total.

• Can non-divers or riders come on the boat? Yes! Non-diving family members or friends are welcome to join as riders or snorkelers. Because our boat capacity is strictly limited to 6 passengers maximum, seats are charged at the same rate regardless of whether guests are diving, snorkeling, or riding.

• What certification level is required for certified divers? Certified divers must present proof of open water certification (or higher). Because this is a private charter, we tailor the dive site selection and pace directly to your group’s comfort level.

• How deep are the dives? Dive depths depend on the sites selected and your experience, but local reef dives typically range between 30 to 80 feet.

• What if someone gets seasick easily? Ocean conditions around Kauaʻi can vary. If you are prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking medication (such as Bonine or Dramamine) the night before and the morning of your charter for best results.
